Flowers are a highly photographed subject. Not too many photographers will pass on an oppoutunity to photograph such a lovely subject. They rarely wiggle, argue or complain.

They don't mind wet weather, hot sun early mornings or late evenings. Some of the most stunning photos of flowers are in the macro area. Super close ups of the petals or leaves or the pistles.

Get out today scour the neighborhoods, fields and area gardens for you own portfolio of the rare beauties. Try zooming in or use a macro lens to get deep into the crevices of flowers. Use the to capture bees or other insects. Add flowers to your portraits. I think you get the idea.

HUGE! Gynormous Make Your biggest wish ever Dandelion

the photo with our son gives a better effect of how huge these really are!
he thought he was in wishing heaven!

If you want to make a wish...check out the size of these mega dandelions, they are huge and I remember seeing these in the fields as a child and thinking wow! They are GYNORMOUS!

I took a few close up photos and then one with our 8 year old standing out in them he was having a blast and couldn't wait to make a wish and Blow!

There is something very magical about seeing these flowers, it is a festive childhood flowers and I don't know of anyone who doesn't love the fun of blowing these. They always bring back fond memories and its a blast watching the little ones with these!

One of my day jobs consists of working on race cars from time to time. Anything from scrubbing wheel tubs to changing out motors and so on. I started work with my step dad when I was about 16 or 17. We originally just worked on any kind of hot rod, then when I graduated, we went to Florida and worked with fellow named Pat Musi.
From there, there have been many cars and lots of races on the NHRA circuit.
Here are a couple of pictures of a comp-eliminator car that we worked on this past summer and my step dad Jim Hayter actually tuned to set a few records last summer. Oh, and the dog is "Max" our guard dog. Although I think the only he guards is his food bowl.

We have two really cute little girls and we love to photograph them every chance we get. The hard part is catching them being still. They are constantly running and playing making it very hard to get a great picture. Once in a while they do sit still and we do get a cute little snapshot of them. They are girls and they do have fun being girls of course. They love to wear make-up, mom's of course and mom's shoes and mom's whatever else she is missing. Anyway hear are a few pictures of the dolls.

Remember the ice storm in Oklahoma that was a major problem this winter?
I was digging through some files on my computer and ran across some of them. They quickly reminded me of what a mess we Oklahomans had to deal with.

It took days of chainsawing and loads of limbs to get everything cleared up. I hope we don't have another one for awhile. Spring is finally coming around and I almost forgot about doing without electricity for a week.

Here are a few pictures of the aftermath. Some are at night with bulb exposures and others are just of simple things like ice encapsulated branches leaves and more.

The Famous Redbud tree, which is also the Oklahoma state tree.
We caught these a little early because the buds have not fully developed yet, but the colors are great. I love macro photography.

I read in Popular Photography about aiming rails for this kind of work and it sounded really intriguing. Small subjects like flowers and bugs are wonderful subjects when you get into the macro lenses.

I highly recommend a good tripod also. It is imperative when you want to use a smaller aperture and longer exposure with a slower iso speed to gain that clarity and sharpness that makes the details pop.

spring blossom

Looks like spring around here finally. Caught some bees and butterflies on some bradford pear tree blossoms. These were all handheld on the action program, totally auto exposed and autofocused. We used a Canon EOS 10D with a promaster 7 xr 28-300 lens. Not totally professional , but we have fun.
